Each participant will make a large felted wool’Painting”, of a landscape scene ( or flowers, or whatever they wish) of their choice with lots of detail. Using different “painting with wool” techniques, you will be shown various trees, moons, sunsets, northern lights, flowers, and birds or animals. You will then be shown various ways to mount or use your work of art when you take it home. This workshop is suitable for beginners or experienced felters as your wool painting can be as intricate or as simple as you like. We will be learning both needle felting and wet felting.
Needle Felting: The process of interlocking wool fibres by stabbing it repeatedly with a barbed needle. The barbs catch the scales on the fibre and cause them to tangle and bind together.
Wet Felting: uses water, soap and agitation ( either rubbing or rolling) to interlock and compact wool fibres together.
If you have any questions please email me (Lois) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anyone can felt!
If you have the dexterity to write or type then you can needle felt! The wet felting part of the workshop requires some elbow grease, but if you have limitations, there is always someone (me!) who can roll your project for you. Felting is a wonderful, beautiful, and useful hobby. The possibilities are limitless and the materials are inexpensive. This is my favorite workshop to teach because the participants are always so pleased with the results. Once you learn the basics of wet felting and needle (or dry) felting there are so many things you can make and do.
This picture is of the results of a previous workshop of mostly beginners and as you see, the results are just wonderful!
